AFTER the longest break in its 55-year history, an Isle of Wight choir is pleased to be back in rehearsal, singing together again.

The Newchurch Male Voice Choir is looking forward to being back performing concerts around the Island, visits to the mainland and singing with visiting choirs.

One of the group’s highlights was singing at the Bestival music festival in 2009, then at Robin Hill.

A spokesperson said: “This is such an uplifting feeling, after all, we have been through.

“The rehearsals are full of fun and banter as we practise and perfect our repertoire and start to learn new numbers.

The choir is also keen for any new members to come and join.

Newchurch Male Voice Choir rehearses every Friday at 7.15pm in the Newchurch Parish Hall.

The choir’s sound is a harmony of first tenors, second tenors, baritone and bass range of voices.

The spokesperson continued: “Any prospective members would be welcome to come and listen to a rehearsal to see and hear what we do.

“Choral singing is infectious, healthy and good fun!”
