A 22-year-old Ventnor man is in custody, arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm and criminal damage.

A window was smashed in Ventnor High Street last night (Monday) and two people were assaulted, says Hampshire Constabulary.

Officers were called to the town at 7.39pm, to reports of an altercation. 

A 22-year-old man had become aggressive and threatening towards two people known to him, say police.

Ventnor Post Office's window was damaged.

A woman aged in her 30s suffered minor injuries to her chest, while a man suffered injuries to his face.
