A WIGHTLINK ferry is currently at anchor in the middle of The Solent during the height of Storm Eunice.

UPDATE: What was supposed to be a 40-minute car ferry journey turned into a four hour nightmare thanks to Storm Eunice.

Concerned members of the public have contacted the County Press, saying St Faith has been at sea since leaving port at 10am.

It is unclear how many passengers or crew are onboard.

A Wightlink spokesperson said: "St Faith, the 10am sailing from Fishbourne, was heading to Portsmouth when the wind peaked. The Master decided not to enter Portsmouth Harbour until conditions improved."

The ferry is on the Portsmouth to Fishbourne route.

All Wightlink services have been suspended.

Customers are advised not to arrive at port until notified.

UPDATE:

There are 90 passengers and 13 crew on board St Faith, with 43 vehicles. The St Faith crew are giving refreshments to customers.

Wightlink said conditions in the eastern Solent are force 11, gusting 12

Winds at Lymington are now gusting 43 knots and they are expecting conditions to improve in the Portsmouth area later this afternoon.
