TWO good causes have been supported by the kind donations left at Long Lane Christmas lights.

In his 22nd year of lighting up his Newport home for charity, Terry Ramplin was proud to hand over cheques for £2,250 each to the Isle of Wight Prostate Cancer Support Group and Daisy Chains Isle of Wight.

The money was raised when people donated in return for viewing the lights.

Terry said: "We were over the moon with the amount raised for the simple reason that there are far more houses with lights these days, about 30-odd all raising money for charity this year.

"To raise £4,500 was absolutely incredible and we want to say a big thank you to the public.

"All I ask is that people donate and that money is now helping a lot of men on the Island through the prostate charity and it will boost Daisy Chains which has not been able to hold so many fundraising events as usual due to Covid.

"We put three months of work into our lights — they are not put up on a whim — it takes a lot of effort and a lot of support from organisations and people helping me.

"Thanks to all, and anyone who ever wants to donate in any form in future is welcome."
