BOLLYWOOD is coming to the Isle of Wight, bringing closures to several roads throughout Ventnor.

Earlier this month, the County Press reported that the Isle of Wight Film Fixers CIC had secured a Bollywood action movie to film in the town.

As a result, diversions and road closures will come into force between February 1 – 4.

Periodic diversions will be in place on Church Street during the production, with every effort made to keep diversions short, using Hambrough Road to feed traffic into the town.

On the morning of February 1, Grove Street and Southgrove Road will be closed.

Briefly, in the afternoon of February 1, Alpine Road will also be closed.

On February 3, Pier Street will be closed on and off all day, with diversions feeding cars into Market Street, and traffic leaving the Esplanade will be diverted past the no-entry signs – also onto Market Street.

The Esplanade will remain open.

February 4 will see the closure of the High Street, with the traffic management company saying: “We will have times when we can re-open the road, though some of these closures may be slightly longer whilst they clean up between shots.

“We’ll want to re-open as quickly as possible, so we don’t disrupt businesses as much."

In the coming days, residents of Ventnor will receive letters delivered to their homes and businesses around the town centre, giving full details of the road closures required.

Cowleaze Hill was shut for filming on January 23, as filming for the Bollywood film kicked off.

Film fixer Dadina Sagger said: “We are using Ventnor in such a big and exciting way for the main action scenes in the movie.

"We will keep to minimal disruption.

"As soon as scenes are done, we will make sure traffic can flow through or remove the closures entirely."

Dadina's business has previously worked on The Beast Must Die and Victoria and Abdul.
