AN ISLAND charity’s minibus was damaged by vandals while it was parked at Shanklin Train Station last year.

The Ford Transit minibus, owned by John’s Club, had its rear window smashed, sustained damage to the back door, and other windows were spray painted black, confirmed British Transport Police.

According to the charity, the whole of the front of the bus's wiring has been destroyed.

John's Club's damaged minibus is the only vehicle that can transport people in wheelchairs, as it is the only bus with a lift fitted.

The bus is relied upon by members and people in the community.

A spokesperson from John’s Club said: “Due to lack of funds, due to Covid, we have not been able to fix this bus yet, as like all other organisations we are struggling to keep our service going.

“This is the worse economic time we have had to deal with in 27 years of running.

“If anyone can support us financially, or in any other way, we would appreciate any help in this difficult time. Please call John Phillips on 07702 340193.”

The vehicle is now parked along Gunville Road in Newport, damaged, and unable to be used.
