Isle of Wight County Press:

Henley and his pony, Cadlanvalley Sea-scape (aka Bella), in a fancy dress class at a horse show.

We couldn't help but be impressed by the lovely Cadlanvalley Sea-scape (aka Bella), a four-year-old Welsh Section B pony who belongs to eight-year-old Henley of Shanklin.

Mum Roxanne said: "Henley has many conditions including autism. He attends a specialist school due to this. His pony, Bella is his therapy.

"When he has a hard day coping with the world around him, he sees Bella and she calms him, she makes him feel safe. They were made for one another."

They recently went to a horse show and did a fancy dress class. Henley was super-nervous because he doesn't like speaking to new people and he was scared of the judges, but Bella looked after him and they won.

Isle of Wight County Press:

Daphne getting ready to strut her stuff in the dressage arena.

Kirsty Newnham's horse Daphne also caught our eye. Daphne is a 17-year-old Welsh part-bred who likes to turn her hoof to most things, including dressage and hacking out.

Kirsty, of Ryde, said: "She's my best friend and I have had her since she was three months old. We just have a great bond between animal and human."

Isle of Wight County Press:

Pongo knows he is gorgeous.

Kirsty also has the lovely Pongo, a seven-year-old Dalmatian.

She said: "Pongo has been trained as a carriage dog. He loves to work and run and he is a loyal friend."

Isle of Wight County Press:

Mr Pancake fell asleep deciding what to watch.

The cutest kitten in this gallery award goes to Mr Pancake, who is six months old.

Kerry Dean, of Shanklin, explained: "He was a surprise present for my daughter's 14th birthday.

"Like most kids, the last few years have been hard. She was struggling with her mental health and after losing our first cat (he was only two), on New Years Day 2021, things spiralled!

"But Mr Pancake has brought us so much love and smiles all around."

Isle of Wight County Press:

Dudley with around half the rosettes he has won.

Dudley's tale is one of rags to riches. This ten-year-old American Bulldog cross staffie belongs to Zoë Cox of Sandown.

She said: "Dudley is a rescue who we adopted when he was 19 weeks old.

"He was saved by the rescue days from being put to sleep. Over the years we have been to numerous fun dog show where Dudley has won more than 500 rosettes including several best in show/champion.

"He likes to come with me when I visit the red squirrels that I photograph and he is very calm around them and they seem to accept him.

"I honestly can't fault him at all. He likes to spend his days snoring on the sofa and going out for walks. He does several tricks which he has won rosettes for as well."

Isle of Wight County Press:

Buddy Baker loves to puncture a ball and carry it around for the rest of the day.

Finally, three-year-old black labrador, Buddy Baker, has a celebrity connection.

Owner Gail Hart of Ryde explained: "His granny belongs to Matt Baker from Countryfile/One Show, hence the name Buddy Baker.

"He thinks he's human and always wants to be involved, including using the slide at the park and listening to stories with the (other) children. He's a precious member of our family."

NOTE: We had so many photos in our pets pages in the January 21 issue of the County Press that we had to split the gallery. If your pet was in the newspaper, but isn't in this story, then they could be in yesterday's gallery.
