Entries are now open for Cowes Week 2022.

Those behind the annual sailing regatta have also revealed some of their plans for this year's event.

On the water, more races will start off the Royal Yacht Squadron line.

Some courses will be shortened and a new design class has been added.

The Sonata will feature, to reflect its strong activity in Cowes over the past few years, the Cowes Week team said.

A FarEast 28 class has also been added, as the European Championships will take place in Cowes.

On shore, we are told to expect a Cowes Week Opening Party on Saturday, July 30, with the return of DJ Mark Covell.

There is also a new pricing structure for some boats.

The team says it will make it fairer, with bands broken down into one metre increments, starting from seven metres.

The overall prizegiving will be on Friday,  August 5.
