TWO vehicles were involved in a collision — with firefighters freeing a woman from one car which ended up on its side — near Yarmouth this morning (Saturday).

Emergency services were called to Tapnell Farm Lane, the entrance to Isle of Wight tourist attraction Tapnell Farm, at around 8.30am.

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service immediately sent appliances from Freshwater and Newport to the scene.

Firefighters and police officers helped free a woman from a hybrid car, a Kia Niro, which had rolled onto its side in the collision.

The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service attended to her and another woman who drove a white Mini, but neither were seriously injured, according to the emergency services at the scene.

There was a passenger in the Mini, who was reportedly unhurt too.

To make the hybrid car safe, firefighters removed the electric battery, before they undertook road clearance work of crash debris.

Police closed the roads until the vehicles were recovered.

The incident was closed at 9.03am and the roads reopened just before 11am.
