SANDOWN High Street is set to close later this month, for nearly six weeks, while roadworks are carried out.

The High Street will close on Monday, January 17, from 8am and will reopen on Friday, February 25, at 6.30pm.

The closure will affect the entire length of the High Street.

During this time, the current one-way restriction will be revoked along York Road, Wilkes Road, and St Johns Road between its junctions with the High Street and York Road.

One-way restrictions are also set to be revoked from Monday, January 24 to Monday, February 14 along Esplanade Road, The Esplanade, Battery Slipway, and Avenue Road Slipway.

However, a one-way restriction will be introduced, in a south to north direction, along Pier Street between its junctions with Battery Slipway and the High Street.

Residents are also warned of plans for a closure along Esplanade between its junction with Battery Slipway and Avenue Slipway, between Monday, January 24, and Monday, February 14.
