PASSENGERS on the Island Line train have been hit by delays this morning.

The train, heading from Shanklin to Ryde Pier Head, has broken down near Lake Station.

It lost power just before 8.30am and is now at Lake Station while staff try to get it going again.

Passengers, mainly commuters and schoolchildren, are waiting on the train.

We will update with further news when we have it.

A spokesperson said: "We’ve been advised that a train has developed a fault between Lake and Sandown. Trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised because of this problem. The train crew are investigating and working towards fixing the fault."

UPDATE: A passenger has told the County Press the train is now running, and has got to Sandown Station.
