A BOY aged just 12 has been interviewed by police officers after a cemetery chapel was vandalised.

The lead windows at Ventnor Cemetery's picturesque chapel were shattered when boulders were thrown at them between Christmas and the New Year.

The damage was discovered on New Year's Eve.

The chapel door had also been kicked multiple times, and bootprints left all over it.

Local people supplied names to the police after a public outcry, and investigations have been taking place to identify the culprits.

Today, the police confirmed a 12-year-old boy has been interviewed under caution and enquiries remain ongoing.

In some good news, Friends of Ventnor Cemetery have been delighted with the rallying round of the local community.

Two Ventnor businesses have also offered to help pay towards replacement windows.

The door has already been cleaned and fixed by volunteers.

The windows have been temporarily boarded over.
