Flowers have been laid at the site of yesterday's crash on Whippingham Road, where two men in their twenties died.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with minor injuries, said Hampshire Constabulary, after the collision at 1.10pm on Tuesday, January 11.

A car and a van were involved in the crash at the junction of Whippingham Road and East Cowes Road.

On social media, tributes are being paid to the two men who died, but they have not yet been officially named by the police.

Whippingham Road reopened to traffic at around 9.20pm last night.

It was closed for around eight hours, while fire, ambulance and police teams were on the scene.

A police appeal for witnesses has been launched, as part of the investigation into what happened.
