Medina Marching Band has been reflecting on what it has called 'one of the most challenging' years in its history.

Founded in 1976, the band has tried hard to keep its members together in 2021, while dealing with Covid-19 restrictions.

Despite the challenges, nearly 70 musicians performed at 16 events, on the Isle of Wight and the Mainland.

The highlight of its year was November's Festival of Remembrance, in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

In December, the band handed awards to its members.

For 2022, it is recruiting new woodwind, brass and percussion players and the only rule is that you need to be aged at least 8 years old.

You do not even need to have musical experience, or an instrument.

Practice is on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 7pm until 9pm, at Christ the King College, Newport.
