FAMILIES who have chosen to home educate their children can access a new childhood enrichment service.

Learning Via Living has been launched by the team behind Monkton Arts, and has been given the stamp of approval by Ofsted.

The service has been founded by Alex and Jenna Sabine, who have been working in education since 2006, and who have extensive backgrounds in educational innovation and practice.

Alex is currently the early childhood studies course leader at the University of Portsmouth.

Among the activity leaders is Lucia Para, who adopts a creative arts style, including cookery, foraging and nature days. As an artist, Lucia has a flair for the theatrical and is currently completing her Early Years teacher training course.

Daniel Roberts, founder of the National Poo Museum, will be hosting Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) innovation days. Daniel has extensive experience in creative activities as an inventor and has worked on various projects with Island schools.

The team are supported by activity assistants, Joanna May Fidler and Katie Owen, both of whom have extensive experience of working with children from home educating backgrounds and special educational needs and disabilities.

As well as providing opportunities for socialisation and enrichment for home educating families during term times, the team will also provide a service during holiday times for all children.

Bookings are done per day from 10am to 2.30pm, up to 18 hours per week per child.

The service is currently open to children from four to 12 years and start from January 11.
