AN ISLE of Wight vineyard has been voted among the best in Britain, according to a new survey.

Adgestone Vineyard features second on kitchen supplier Magnet's top ten best British vineyards open to the public to visit and try wine from.

Magnet analysed more than 230 vineyards in Britain, based on a range of factors including Google reviews, search trends and the facilities available at each location.

Adgestone Vineyard ranked second, with only Hambledon Vineyard scoring higher.

Adgestone is also one of the few vineyards studied that offers accommodation.

Visitors can either book into self-catered outdoor shepherd huts or a rustic holiday cottage.

The vineyard also offers tours, lunches, live music and friendly farm animals.

Pre-covid, Adgestone produced around 19,000 litres of wine a year, amounting to nearly 25,000 bottles.

The vineyard also produces the only blue sparkling wine in the country — marketed as the perfect ‘something blue’ wedding gift.

“To have been rated the second best vineyard in the UK to visit is brilliant," said co-owner, Philippa Jane.

"But to have been ranked equal to the likes of Chapel Down — England’s leading wine producer — is simply fantastic.

“Our whole team has worked really hard this year to make sure everyone who visits the vineyard feels welcomed.

"As a team, we are always thinking of new ways to add something a little different, from the UK’s only blue sparkling wine to a new green, sweet elderflower wine that is being released mid-December.”
