He spent a summer piling up the runs for Ventnor Cricket Club but now Travis Head is putting England's bowlers to the sword in The Ashes.

The 27-year-old left hander had a season at Steephill in 2013, when he topped the Southern Premier League batting charts with 733 runs.

Overmight he hit a scintillating unbeaten 112 for Australia in Brisbane.

His knock included 12 fours and two sixes as he made the England bowlers suffer.

After his successful season on the Island, he went on to play county cricket for yorkshire and Sussex.

This innings was his third test century.

Ventnor's other international cricketers include the Island's Danny Briggs (England) and New Zealander Cole McConchie.
