THE Isle of Wight Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus has received a cash injection from a generous supporter.

The independent charity received a cheque for more than £5,000 from Donna Woodcock and her family.

Donna, from Sandown, has spent the past year raising funds for the association, which supports Islanders with both conditions.

Despite Covid, she worked out a new, safe way to raise funds online, selling donated items from her home to Islanders who collect them.

Her daily facebook posts have been successful, and the association's chair, Anne Axford, said: "This just goes to show that Covid can't deter Donna in her fundraising efforts.

"She has raised funds for many years, but this is the largest amount she has ever raised.

"It's left me speechless."

Recent grants have supported Islanders with travel to mainland hospitals, electrical equipment and essential specialist items.
