WITH almost 800 new cases of Covid-19 on the Isle of Wight over the past week, the total since the pandemic began now stands at 18,737.

Public Health England announced 145 new cases for the Isle of Wight today (Saturday). Yesterday, it had increased by 132.

Over the past seven days, new Covid cases have risen by 797, which is on a par with rises over the previous fortnight — 791 last Saturday, and 789 the previous Saturday.

All cases recorded are Isle of Wight residents.

The Island's rolling rate has seen a reduction of 13.4 in the past week — dropping from 554.5 to today's figure of 541.1, which is measured per 100,00 people and always five days behind, in the seven days to November 29. 

The national rolling rate now stands at 447.2. Last Saturday, the rate was 437.

So far, the Island has not recorded any cases of the new Covid variant, omicron.
