A PENSIONER was rushed to hospital with leg injury which required surgery and a minor head injury after she was knocked down by a car in Newport last night (Friday).
The victim, a woman aged 69, from Newport, was struck by a Honda Jazz close to the Isle of Wight Sixth Form College, in St James's Street, Nodehill, at around 7.30pm.
She suffered a minor head injury and a leg injury which required surgery, a Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said.
The driver who collided with her is a man aged 45, also of Newport.
Police say they are investigating the matter and, as yet, have not made an arrest.
