The Met Office has now extended its warning for ice to include the Isle of Wight.

An earlier warning stopped at Portsmouth.

Forecasters now say rain, sleet and snow could mean icy patches tomorrow (Monday), until 10am.

The Isle of Wight Met Service has also issued a weather warning for ice.

It said: "Evening showers of sleet and hill snow have created some very wet surfaces, especially in more central, eastern and southern parts of the Island.

"As the temperatures continue to fall this evening and overnight, we are expecting some very icy conditions on untreated roads and surfaces, especially in rural parts and away from windward coasts.

"Temperatures will fall to freezing across many parts of the Island leading to a widespread air frost, with perhaps a few southern and eastern parts falling as low as -3°C."

Earlier, snow fell briefly in Ventnor.
