AN AREA in Ventnor is without power this afternoon (Thursday) for the third time in less than a week.

An outage today was logged for the Marlborough Road region in Ventnor at 2.15pm.

Southern and Scottish Electricity Networks (SSEN) have placed the estimated restoration time at 5.30pm

The first outage came just after 3pm on Saturday, November 20.

Kevin, a Ventnor resident, said: “The first time it happened was around five minutes before the kick-off of the England versus South Africa match.”

Since then, there have been two SSE outages, with the latest coming today.

Kevin said: “I was just writing an email when it went down again.

“I’m not wasting my day; I’m going to The Spyglass to have a pint and a meal.

SSEN said: “The current power outage in Ventnor has been caused by a fault in an underground cable. This is affecting 18 customers.

“SSEN engineers are working to find the location of the fault and undertake repairs.

“We would like to apologise to customers affected by this fault and to assure them that we are working to restore power as safely and swiftly as possible.”

The affected areas are as follows: PO38 1RZ, PO38 1SD, PO38 1TD, PO38 1TE, PO30 1TF, PO38 1TG, PO38 1TT, PO38 1TY.
