THE Island's Covid rolling rate has shot significantly above the UK average.

The rate rose from 354.9 to 380.2 on the Isle of Wight today — and the UK rate is 364.6.

The rolling rate data, which is measured per 100,00 people, is always five days behind the daily data.

However, the Island had 108 confirmed cases added today, taking the cumulative total since the pandemic began, to 16,557 cases.

Cases remain highest in the under 60s.

The most recently available hospital data showed five people seriously ill on ventilators at St Mary's Hospital (as of last Tuesday).

In total, the hospital had 22 people with Covid on the wards.
