MORE than 80 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed on the Isle of Wight, new government data has revealed.

Public Health England figures released today (Sunday) show 89 news cases, up from 86 yesterday.

It takes the Isle of Wight total, since the start of the pandemic, to 16,449.

The Island's rolling rate has also risen.

Recorded at 340.1 yesterday, in the seven days to November 9, it was 354.9.

A patient at St Mary's Hospital has died after contracting Covid-19, data released earlier in the week revealed.

The latest death happened on November 10 and takes the Isle of Wight's Covid death toll to 334 people.

It is the third Covid death at the hospital within the last week.

The number of patients with Covid being treated at St Mary's Hospital has also risen.

Data correct on Tuesday, November 9, and published on Thursday shows 22 people occupying a bed at the Newport hospital.
