A man who burgled addresses in Seaview, Ryde and Yarmouth and used stolen credit cards on the Island and in Hampshire has been jailed.

Lucas Beau Corke, 45, of Barncroft Way in Havant, Hampshire pleaded guilty to a series of offences, including burglary and fraud, at numerous Isle of Wight locations, as well as in Fareham and Gosport.

Charges dating to December 2019 included stealing a bag and wallet containing cash and bank cards from a car parked on Ryde sea front, a burglary at Seaview Yacht Club, and a burglary at Aspire Ryde in Dover Street, Ryde, during which cash was stolen.

He also admitted a burglary at an address on Bouldnor Road, Yarmouth, in August this year, during which wallets containing cash and bank cards were stolen.

Corke was also accused of using stolen credit cards on the Isle of Wight and in Gosport and he was charged with seven counts of fraud by false representation.

In August, cards were used at Harvey’s in Yarmouth, at Yarmouth bus station and in Newport's Hunnyhill Stores in Newport, as well as at the Co-op in Bembridge.

Additional charges related to venues and businesses on the mainland.

Corke pleaded guilty to all of the offences.

Appearing at Southampton Crown Court on Monday, November 8, he was jailed for 54 months.

PC Nickie Moreton, from the Isle of Wight Investigation Team, said: "Corke’s offending in this case was brazen, often walking into premises and stealing goods in daylight hours whilst people were nearby.

"Unfortunately for him, a thorough investigation involving the review of CCTV, financial enquiries and identifying witnesses enabled us to place Corke at the scene of each of these crimes.

"I’m pleased that he has now been brought to justice for these incidents, and I hope this reassures the public that we will follow every line of enquiry possible to capture those who offend in this way."
