A SHANKLIN man was fined £300 after being found in possession of cannabis and cocaine.

Ashley David Smart, of High Street, admitted two charges at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Liz Miller, prosecuting, said police had visited Smart on an unrelated charge when they found him in possession of the drugs.

The court had been given no detail by police about the amount of drugs found, but Henry Farley, defending Smart, said it was a small amount in line with personal use.

Smart, a self employed builder, said he was ashamed and determined never to end up in court again, Mr Farley explained.

He must also pay £85 costs and a £34 surcharge.
