FIREWORKS displays have been few and far between lately — largely due to the Covid pandemic.

If you are looking forward to the traditional light show, complete with oohs and aahs, you will be pleased to know there ARE some displays planned for the Isle of Wight this week.

In Ventnor, the Spyglass Inn is putting on its annual fireworks show, setting the fireworks off over the sea.

Head to the seafront on Friday for a 7pm start, and don't forget to go buy yourself a drink in the popular pub, or enjoy a meal if there's a table spare!

The Royal Victoria Yacht Club in Fishbourne has an event on Friday night, with a bonfire at 6.30pm and fireworks at 7pm.

This is a ticketed event with an entry fee. (UPDATE: We have been advised this event is for club members and guests only).

Over in Cowes, the Isle of Wight Community Club has a display planned for 8pm, on Saturday, November 6.

The venue, on Park Road, is open from 7pm and offering a bar and hot snacks.

The Brunswick Hotel in Shanklin is hosting a ticketed Bonfire Night event on Saturday, with fireworks, hot food and drinks.

The hotel said: "Fancy trying something different for bonfire night? Look no further, come join us at the Brunswick Hotel in Shanklin for a brilliant night.

"Come join us from 5pm til 6pm on Saturday. Fireworks start at 5.30pm. Weather permitting.

"£5 per adult entry, children go free. £1 from each entry will be donated to Mountbatten.

"There will be hot food and drinks to purchase on the night such as jacket potatoes, candy apples, toasted marshmallows, hot chocolate and mulled wine."

Yarmouth Fireworks are cancelled this year.
