Tim Thomson joined Harwoods when he was 13, working in the petrol station during evenings and weekends.

When he was 15, Tim joined Frank Chevertons as a truck apprentice whilst retaining his position at Harwoods.

In 1977, he left Chevertons and joined Harwoods full time as a salesman.

Initially, Tim sold Renault cars and vans, but in 1981, Harwoods became a Renault/Dodge Truck dealer for the Isle of Wight, and with Tim's vast truck knowledge and contacts, this was successful for many years.

Tim has seen many changes in his 44 years at Harwoods, transferring to the garage's Fiat dealership in 1995 until its closure in 2013.

He transferred back to the Renault site when Dacia became part of Harwoods.

Tim said: “I was very lucky to find a job that I fully enjoyed, and it was like a hobby.

"I have met some lovely customers who have become lifetime friends.

“Harwoods is truly a family business, and I will continue to be an ambassador for Harwoods and associated with them”

Robert Scott-Denness (Bob) joined Harwoods in 1999 as a parts advisor having spent many years working in the motor trade.

Bob started his working life at Fowlers Garage, later moving on to Chevertons, Wadham Stringer, Lucas, York Avenue Garage, and Prices, before joining Harwoods.

Bob said: “Harwoods is a wonderful place to work, a real Family business, everyone is friendly and works as a team, I will miss everyone”

The team at Harwoods Garage would like to thank Tim and Bob for their loyal service and wish them both a long and happy retirement.
