MORE than 80 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed on the Isle of Wight.

Public Health England figures released today (Thursday) show 85 new cases.

Yesterday, 103 cases saw the Isle of Wight total surpass 15,000.

That total now stands at 15,087.

The Island's rolling rate per 100,000 people has also changed.

The most recent data shows, in the seven days to October 23, it was 594.5.

Yesterday, in the seven days to October 22, it was 596.6.

Another Covid-19 death has been recorded at St Mary's Hospital in Newport, new data revealed earlier today.

It means 183 Newport hospital patients have now died since March 2020, after getting coronavirus.

"Don't listen to anti-vaxxers" is the strong message from the Isle of Wight Council's lead health and social care councillor.

It comes as Covid rates on the Island fluctuate slightly but still remain high.

As the spread of Covid again continues to pick up speed, Isle of Wight councillors are urging those who are not already vaccinated to get a jab.
