Leading members of the Isle of Wight Council's cabinet will meet later today (Monday) and we are told to expect a number of previously postponed decisions.

Among them, councillors could opt to trigger the next step for a review of the troubled floating bridge; they are expected to make a final decision on the future of the Ryde Interchange project; a decision is awaited over the challenged closure of Chillerton and Rookley primary school; and members will look at a wishlist from bus operator Southern Vectis.

The matters were all due to be decided on October 14, but the meeting had to be postponed due to a positive Covid-19 test.

Since then, more councillors have been required to isolate but as the Isle of Wight County Press has reported, a meeting will still be held at County Hall, with some councillors joining virtually.

What decisions will be made by councillors?

The future of Chillerton and Rookley school remains in the balance - councillors are due to decide on whether a public consultation should be launched.

Councillors are also expected to decide on whether or not to launch a Floating Bridge 6 review.

A final decision could be made that will see Ryde transformed.

And Southern Vectis's wish list of 116 proposed service network improvements will be discussed.

  • Councillors meet from 4pm and the Isle of Wight County Press will be running a live blog as decisions are made.
