A LARGE artwork of Ryde will be exhibited in Ryde Esplanade Train Station to celebrate the opening of Island Line’s new trains on Monday, November 1.

Nick Martin produced the painting collage during the first Covid lockdown last year.

Nick said: “I wanted to celebrate Union Street and get the feel of the Great Age of the Railway Travel posters in the Early 20th Century.

“It's a positive and sunny view The Solent, and is called ‘Ryde, Gateway to the Island', I asked people in Ryde to be in the poster.”

Nick has exhibited it already in Quay Arts, Monkton Arts, and Yelf’s Hotel and is touring the original.

He added: “As a municipal work of Art, I'd like as many visitors and Islanders to see it.

“I have plans to move it every three months.

“I have contacted Hovertravel and The Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth and hope it will go to these places next year.”

Limited Edition Prints are available from Framers Picture Framing & Gallery on Union Street, Ryde, or from their website HERE
