MORE than 100 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed on the Isle of Wight, according to the latest government data.

Public Health England figures released today (Thursday) show 108 new cases since yesterday's 170.

It takes the Isle of Wight total, since the start of the pandemic, to 14,331.

The Island's rolling rate has also changed.

In the seven days to October 16, it was 539 ­— up from 523.6 yesterday.

The worst affected Island age group for Covid cases remains ten to 14 year olds, with a rolling rate of 2,879.9 as of October 16.

It was 2,715.3 yesterday.

Another Covid death was confirmed at St Mary's Hospital yesterday — the fifth at the Newport hospital this month.

The latest death happened three days ago on October 18.

Hospital data is released weekly on a Thursday afternoon, but the most recent update showed 14 Covid patients.
