AN ISLE of Wight man who caused affray after being convicted of making threats to kill two police officers has been sentenced.

Richard Wetherick, 44, admitted the threats charge then went on to threaten violence at his mother's home.

He admitted causing an affray, by using or threatening violence, in Ryde, on February 15.

Wetherick, of Vernon Square, Ryde, was serving a 12-month community order for making threats to kill by way of stabbing two police officers.

A pre-sentence report, already prepared by the probation service, was used when sentencing Wetherick for the affray.

Jonathan Underhill, representing Wetherick at a previous hearing on October 11, said: "The report is very detailed. It identifies his mental health and alcohol dependency difficulties he had at that time."

"Mr Wetherick wishes to draw a line under this part of his life."

Judge Tim Mousely sentenced Wetherick last Thursday, October 14, to six months in custody, suspended for 18 months.

He must pay a £128 victim surcharge.
