AFTER being withdrawn from service yesterday, Red Jet 7 is back.

The passenger service suffered delays in The Solent yesterday following a low fuel pressure alert on the port outer main engine.

Tugs escorted the vessel back to Southampton, where it arrived at 1.54pm, carrying 54 passengers.

It had also been out of service for part of last week, for essential maintenance.

A spokesperson for Red Funnel said today: “Following essential repair works to the engine, we are pleased to announce that Red Jet 7 is now back in service.

"We thank customers for their patience and apologise for the inconvenience caused as we worked to resume our normal timetable.”

Red Jets 6 and 7 are now in service on the Cowes to Southampton route.

A third vessel, Red Jet 4, remains out of action.
