THE Isle of Wight’s Covid rolling rate has dropped today, from 546 yesterday to 527.10 today.

Although good news, the rate, per 100,000 people, remains considerably higher than the UK rate of 434.6, latest data shows.

All the rolling rate data is fine days behind.

Today, the Public Health England update shows a further 95 confirmed cases added to the Island's total, after yesterday’s 100 cases.

It takes the Island's total number of cases since the pandemic began to 14,058.

The worst affected Island age group remains ten to 14 year olds, with the age group's rolling rate rising from 2,537 yesterday, to 2,591.9 today.

Data also shows four more people have died after getting Covid-19 on the Isle of Wight.

In the latest figures from NHS England, a further two people have died at St Mary’s Hospital, in October.

The two deaths occurred on October 14 and 15, meaning there have been four deaths in the space of five days at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.

According to the latest Office of National Statistics data, in the week up to October 8, Covid-19 was also mentioned on the death certificates of two people who died in a hospice setting.

In total, there have been 323 Covid deaths on the Island since the beginning of the pandemic.
