POPULAR attraction Dinosaur Isle has had to temporarily close due to Covid cases among staff.

The Sandown seafront attraction, on Culver Parade, has had to close mid half term, but hopes to reopen its doors on Monday, October 25.

The Isle of Wight Council venue posted on Facebook today: "Important update. We regret that due to positive Covid tests and isolation among several of our staff the museum will remain closed until Monday, October 25, at 10am.

"The fossil walks today, Wednesday and Thursday will go ahead as planned but no further bookings will be taken for them.

"The safety of our visitors and staff is very important to us. We apologise for the inconvenience."

The news follows high Covid rates on the Island, particularly among children age ten to 14.

Other popular venues have also had to temporarily close this week
