AN ELECTRICAL fault was to blame for a care home fire in Ventnor this morning (Saturday).
Multiple fire crews were called to the scene at Ward House Care Home on Alpine Road.
Crews from Shanklin, Newport and Ryde all attended at approximately 9.32am.
A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the fire was born of a faulty light fitting.
The incident was resolved quickly, with residents brought out of their rooms and smoke cleared from the basement.
Two breathing apparatus and a single hosereel was used.
Crews stood down soon after, but firefighters remained at the scene to direct traffic.
