ANOTHER Isle of Wight patient has died in hospital after contracting Covid-19, the latest NHS data shows.

It means 177 people have now died at St Mary's Hospital since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

It is the second Covid-related death at the Newport hospital in four days — the latest recorded on October 13.

Covid cases on the Isle of Wight continue to increase, with more than 100 added to the Island total yesterday (Friday).

Children remain the most affected, with the government heatmap showing rates among ten to 14 year olds at 2,729 as of yesterday.

According to the latest Office of National Statistics (ONS) data, Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificates of three people who have died on the Island after September 17.

Their deaths were all in community settings, which means they were not on St Mary's Hospital wards.
