THE ISLE of Wight Soup Kitchen will soon find itself homeless, it has announced.

The service, which provides hot and wholesome food for the less fortunate, is having to vacate its current premises at 67a High Street, Newport.

The service said its landlord has accepted an offer on the building, so when the sale goes through, they will lose their town centre base.

It said: "This of course means a huge blow to funding and to the support we have been given, being so central in Newport.

"The soup kitchen has now been running seven years and since it's conception, when outreach didn't exist, there is now a team of professionals who we have worked alongside, with a (big) budget whose job it now is to help and assist homeless off our Island's streets.

"We may be a bit down but we're definitely not out."

The service will once again become The Pop Up Soup Kitchen, using food from their waste food contracts, and will revert to popping up as they did before, in locations where needed.

The horsebox trailer is getting a fresh coat of paint after being refitted and sealed over the summer.

They thanked Sandown Airport for offering storage and donating all their end of season stock.
