AFTER bad recent weather led to the disappointment of two postponements of the final round of the Island Masters speedway series, organisers are hoping the rain will stay away next week as they try again.

The Wightlink Warriors will be hoping it is third time lucky for Island Masters action at Smallbrook Stadium, Ryde, on Thursday, October 14.

Confirming the new date, the Warriors’ co-owner, Barry Bishop, said: “With the outcome of the Island Masters series so finely balanced, we have been working overtime to fit in the crucial climax.

"At this time of year, it’s always a little complicated bringing various aspects together, as we consider rider availability, medical cover and ferry crossings, among a host of other components needed for delivering a smooth race day experience for everyone involved.

"However, with superb co-operation all round, things have come together nicely.

"Add in a decent long-range weather forecast, and the prospect of some outstanding on-track action from all the returning big hitters, it will be all systems go."

The event starts at 7pm.
