Two state-of-the-art multi-million pound leisure crafts are being constructed at Wight Shipyard.

The Isle of Wight employer will also deliver a third boat by 2023, with work due to start later this year.

In partnership with designers at Arksen, the East Cowes-based Wight Shipyard team is creating 'long range' and 'capable and efficient' boats, that aim to give owners the chance to explore places off the beaten track.

While Project Pelagos is due to be on the water by November 2022, providing 12 berths and six-cabins, a second vessel, Project Ocean, will be delivered in late 2022.

Construction on a third boat should see that delivered in early 2023.

The flagship Arksen 85 model is being built at Venture Quays and with the first of the two hulls nearing fit-out stage, the County Press was recently given a sneak preview, led by Arksen's chief operating officer Ewan Hind and technical project manager Rob van Kalsbeek.

For those who can afford the £5.9 million price-tag, the long-range explorer is capable of worldwide adventures, say its designers and the vessels offer luxury accommodation, with space for crew and in some models, a nod to the environment and efficiency.
