AN ARREST and police search resulted in a Ryde man being fined for cannabis possession.

Aaron Hall, of West Street, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old admitted possession of cannabis in Ryde, on March 27.

Prosecutor, Liz Miller, told the court Hall had been arrested and his house had been searched while he was present.

Ms Miller said around four grams of cannabis was seized — found rolled into a joint and in a plastic bag.

She said drug paraphernalia was also discovered, and in interview, Hall told officers the drugs were for his own personal use.

Oscar Vincent, defending, said it was a low-level offence, and Hall had already been made subject of a community order imposed on August 5 at the Isle of Wight Crown Court.

He said the offence pre-dated his Crown Court appearance, and his drug-rehabilitation requirement was going well.

Mr Vincent told the court Hall had been entirely co-operative with police, and made full and frank admissions.

Hall was fined £80 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £34 surcharge.
