THE Isle of Wight played host to cycling and gourmet legends when LeBlanq hosted its first joyriding weekend here.

It was a luxury break full of experiences of eating, drinking and riding — and it brought cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins to the Island for his first visit.

Hosting 60 guests over a two-night break, the new luxury cycling tour operator partnered with Isle of Wight businesses including Mermaid Gin and Red Funnel Ferries, as well as the Isle of Wight Council, and big names such as Laurent-Perrier, Michelin, Aston Martin and Pinarello.

During the two-night break, participants enjoyed joyrides on the Isle of Wight’s stunning roads, riding alongside Sir Bradley Wiggins, Adam Blythe and Sean Yates, and enjoyed gourmet treats and dinners created by chefs including Claude Bosi, Ashley Palmer-Watts and Francesco Mazzei.

They also enjoyed a celebration dinner prepared by two of the Island’s best chefs, Adam Fendyke of Castlehaven and Nick Dobson of The Royal in Ventnor.

Refreshment stops also took riders to Island favourites including The Garlic Farm and The George, and French Franks.

Sir Bradley Wiggins said of the Island: "It’s beautiful. I never knew it was like this. I’ve never been here before and it’s stunning isn’t it? It’s joyriding at its best.”

LeBlanq has confirmed it will return to the Isle of Wight as part of its 2022 programme.

Priority booking is offered to LeBlanq’s membership, which is currently full, but new spaces will be offered to those on the waiting list soon.
