A controlled explosion has been carried out, after the discovery of a World War Two bomb off the Isle of Wight.

Used by the Luftwaffe, it was dropped from a plane and landed in the Solent during the war, but it did not explode at the time.

The SDU2 (Southern Diving Unit 2) team, at the Royal Navy base in Portsmouth, were called out after the discovery in the Solent.

The SC500 bomb was blown up safely by the clearance divers.
