A person died at St Mary's Hospital in Newport on Sunday, after contracting Covid-19.

The death was announced yesterday (Wednesday) and it means 169 people have now died in hospital on the Island after testing positive for coronavirus.

A further 137 people have died in the community since March 2020, which includes care homes and private homes.

Meanwhile, 99 new Covid cases were added to the Isle of Wight's overall total yesterday.

The average rolling rate, which lags behind current data, showed that in the seven days to September 17 there were 196.8 cases per 100,000 people on the Island.

It was a fall on the previous day's count.

Updated figures will be published later today.
