They were set to be second on the bill on Saturday at the River Stage, but guitarist Anthony Pittman's household has contracted Covid.

The band said:" We have had to pull out of the Isle of Wight Festival, we are so gutted.

"Those going we are extremely sorry but please marvel and enjoy the massive feat John Giddings

and the Solo Music Agency team have worked so hard to put this show on for you all.

"Much love and see you all soon."

Previously they called the stage "our spiritual home" at the festival, and said it was where they made their name.

The Novatones are the fourth band to pull out, after Charlotte Awbery, Rianne Downey and The Snuts cancelled their slots.
