TWO award-winning local artists are holding an exhibition at The Gallery at Ventnor Botanic Garden.

Jane Cox will be showing and selling her ceramics and prints, and Sue Lowday her leather and metal works.

The exhibition takes place from Friday, September 24, to Sunday, September 26, from 10.30am to 4.30pm each day.

There is free entry and free parking.

Jane is a local Binnel Studios artist who specialises in vibrant ceramics combining elegant shapes with rich translucent glazes.

Her new black and white designs commissioned by The British Library for their exhibition on Sacred Texts will be on show together with emerald blues, greens, turquoises and speckle glazes inspired by the Island shoreline.

Jane will also be showing items from her new jade green range and new blue and white range inspired by the patterns of billowing sails of the yachts sailing around the IW.

Sue works primarily with eco vegetable tanned leathers, and for over 30 years has explored the unique properties of moulding and shaping leather and developed unique dye techniques.

She will be showing a range of sculptural unique bags (some of which feature in national museum collections) as well as practical everyday items such as colourful unisex belts, bags, key-rings, wallets and purses.

Last year Sue completed a major commission for the Bishop of Stepney, designing and making a special bespoke embossed leather case to hold and carry the Bishop’s crozier.

Sue is also showing her ethereal metal sculptures inspired by rock formations, several examples are part of the Sheffield Museums and private collections.

Covid restrictions apply and there will be a one way flow operating.
