AN EAST Cowes man has admitted touching two young girls — although he said it was not sexual.

Wayne Norris, 50, of Osborne Road, previously entered no plea for two counts of touching a girl under the age of 13, on August 12, 2021 when he appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court.

The court heard Mr Norris was alleged to have approached the two young girls, age seven and 11, while they were playing outside together.

His case was adjourned to the Isle of Wight Crown Court and he appeared there on Thursday, September 9, where he admitted the two offences.

Defending Norris, Christopher Pix, said Norris initially said the touching wasn't sexual, but on advice had admitted the offences. He has no previous convictions.

Sentencing was adjourned to October 15 and the probation service will prepare a pre-sentence report.
