A traffic management plan will come into force next week, in the run up to the Isle of Wight Festival.

Event car parks, the separation of traffic arriving via Red Funnel and Wightlink ferries and other measures are included.

Here is what you need to know about getting around to and from the festival, as well as around the Isle of Wight Festival site.

Travelling from East Cowes/arriving by Red Funnel vehicle ferry

Isle of Wight County Press:

The main route will be up York Avenue and along Whippingham Road.

Festival-bound traffic will will turn right onto East Cowes Road and into the event's car park.

For those arriving on foot, commercial and festival buses run from East Cowes.

Travelling from Fishbourne/arriving by Wightlink vehicle ferry

Isle of Wight County Press:

Festival-bound traffic will turn right on to Kite Hill and will drive through Wootton and down Lushington Hill.

It will go straight across the Racecourse roundabout and turn left onto East Cowes Road, into the festival car park.

In Newport

Access to Newport Quay will be not be allowed through Seaclose Park.

Instead we will have to use the bridge between the Bargeman's Rest pub and the Riverside Centre.

Fairlee Road

Isle of Wight County Press:

One-way system in to Newport only along Fairlee Road, from lunchtime on Wednesday, September 15.

All outbound traffic will leave Newport via Staplers Road.

Emergency plan

If any of the entrances to the festival's car parks are blocked, or if there is an incident on any of the roads being used, there are a number of diversion options.

Festival traffic will be ‘stacked’ away from the main roads, before being released into the network once the problem has been resolved.

What else do I need to know?

Plan your routes carefully.

Try to avoid festival traffic routes on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Monday.
