A safe has been stolen at a second Isle of Wight pub.

Shalfleet's New Inn was targeted over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Its owners posted on social media on Monday to say: "A nice bank holiday weekend, with some lovely people and feedback.

"What a shame it gets ruined by some local ****bags who broke in last night and stole the safe.

"Luckily for us, everyone pays by debit card!

"Good luck to them trying to open it. They will be disappointed."

On August 26, the County Press reported on a break in at the Sun Inn in Hulverstone, where a safe was stolen, emptied and later dumped

Hampshire Costabulary said: "We’re investigating burglaries at pubs on the Isle of Wight which have seen safes stolen.

"Overnight on 24 August, The Sun Inn in Hulverstone was broken into and a safe was taken.

"Similarly, overnight on 29 August a burglary took place at The New Inn, Shalfleet, and a safe was stolen from inside.

"Enquiries are ongoing into both of these incidents."
